November 2004
We imported a lovely 4 yr old Westfalen gelding "Fire". He is owned by a new syndicate called "The River Rats Inc". He is a Florestan out of a Fabelhaft mare and has outstanding gaits and temperament. He placed 6th in the German Championships for young horses in September in Warendorf in the 4yr old mares and geldings division. I am really pleased with the way he has settled in and joined the super group of young horses at Franklands.
Faith and Bill spent the week in Toronto to attend the Royal Winter Fair. We congratulate Leslie Reid on her World Cup win and wish her all the best for a great show in Las Vegas at the Final! Faith helped receive the honors for "Promise Me" who won Horse Of The Year, Ian Millar rode Promise Me to his 9th Olympic Games. The Bakers Dozen syndicate which owns Promise Me was also given the Owners Award by Jump Canada. Faith won the award when it first came out so she was honored to receive the award again as a part of The Bakers Dozen!
September 2004
We have a new pony! Daylight arrived from Germany and spent a month in quarantine. She is a German riding pony, 4 yrs. old and palomino. She is very well bred, her sire being Don't Worry out of a Golden Dancer mare. We will be schooling her for the grandchildren to take lessons on and my older students will be able to ride her and eventually show her.
Andrea and Raffles did very well at CDI Devon. Their team finished 3rd in the Can Am Challenge and Andrea had a score of 65.583 in the Prix St Georges and placed 12th. The Intermediare I was better with a score of 66.083 and 6th place and in the Intermediare Freestyle she placed 8th with a 66.917 even after she had to start again when her CD music failed!
Congratulations to Anne Schwab on the purchase of Picador, we know you will enjoy him!
August 2004
Congratulations to Andrea for making the Can Am Challenge Advanced Dressage Team with Raffles. She will be traveling to Devon, Pennsylvania for the competition Sept. 29 - Oct. 3. Andrea and Raffles will compete on one of 3 teams of 2 at Prix. St George, Intermediare 1, and Intermediare Freestyle. There will be teams of Juniors and Young Riders represented as well.
We had two shows to attend this weekend - one near Toronto at York Equestrian Centre and one in Ottawa at The National Capital Equestrian Park. Andrea took Raffles, Picador and L'Amistad to York and Gina stayed home and coached Susan Maurais on Lacey as well as Stef Roffey on Cygnus in Ottawa.
Andrea had good scores with Raffles and was second in her Prix St. Georges with 66%, fourth in the Intermediare I Freestyle with 70% and third in the Intermediare I with 64.8%. With that she has the scores to try for the Can - Am Challenge held in Devon, Pennsylvania in September, so hopefully she will be selected to represent Canada!!
Andrea rode Picador to win both her fourth Level 1 and 2 classes with 64.8% and 65.3%. He also placed first and second in 2 separate Prix St. Georges classes with 63.2% and 63.5%, so he has proven himself again to be an up-and-coming talent at the FEI level! L'Amistad had his first show at first level and had very respectable scores in his six tests with the top score being 70%! Amanda Kalvoda rode Dance to several wins at first and second level in the Junior division.
In Ottawa, Stef and Cygnus ended up Junior Champion at first Level, and Susan was Adult Amateur Reserve Champion in the first Level division.
Congratulations to everyone for braving the torrential rain on Saturday and the huge puddles!
July 2004
We had a good show in Blainville, Quebec. It was the final selection trial for the Olympic Team and we congratulate Leslie, Cindy, Ashley and Belinda on making the team for Athens.
Frappuccino had scores in the high 60's in the First Level tests 1 - 4 and was Open First Level Champion.
Encore had scores in the high 60's in the Second level tests 1 - 4 and had second and first places at third and fourth in the Open division.
Raffles was sixth in the CDI Prix St. Georges and just out of the ribbons in the Intermediare 1 and the Intermediare 1 Kur.
Congratulations to Stef Roffey, Amanda Kalvoda, Sheri Doornekamp, Anne Schwab and Marie Josee Delisle on their excellent show results as well!!
June 2004
Andrea was at a national show in Navan (near Ottawa) held at Queenswood Stables. Encore won both second Level classes with 67% and 68%, and Picador was first in the Prix St. Georges with 67% and second in the fourth level 2 with 69%.
Welcome to a new horse! Delight's a 3 yr old chestnut gelding, just backed and out of Quarantine so he is doing great.
We had a fabulous show at Ottawa. Frappuccino, with me riding, won all 4 of his training level classes with 73 - 74% and was Open training level champion as well as over all Training level champion and high score of the day on Saturday.
Encore won all 4 of his 2nd level classes with Andrea riding with scores from 66 - 70%. He won the Open 2nd level champion as well as Overall champion.
Andrea won the Prix St Georges with Raffles with 64.5%, won the Intermediare 1 Freestyle with 67.75% and was second in the Intermediare 1 with 65%. She was Advanced Champion.
Picador was 4th in his 4th level 1 with and 2nd in the 4th level 2 with the same scores of 61.395%. Andrea also rode him in his first Prix St George and finished with a very respectable 57.75%.
The rain held off and we had super footing so it made for a great three days. There were 150 entries and it was an Olympic qualifier so it was well attended.
May 2004
We had another successful clinic with Albrecht Heidemann on May 13 and 14 with Andrea riding Picador and Encore. Stef Roffey also rode Cygnus.
March 2004
We are planning a trip to Europe to find a new FEI prospect. If you are interested in having Gina look for a horse please contact us.
Congratulations to Jade Deter, Stef Roffey and Amanda Kalvoda on a successful clinic with Albrecht Heidemann at Ruth Koch's stable. We wish them all luck as they get ready for the 2004 show season!
